Extended RV Vacation Packing Tips!

Have you had the unfortunate experience of spending the entire night before you leave for an extended vacation either packing, or tossing and turning in your sleep--wondering if you remembered toothbrushes, socks, and those extra water bottles you picked up last week? Those days are over! We'd like to offer some helpful tips on how to pack effectively, efficiently, and on schedule!

First, and most importantly: Make a list! Starting a packing list long before you're ready to hit the road can save you from forgetting those random must-haves at home. Every time you think of something you'd like to have with you simply add it to your list! It's a good idea to keep them handy, such as on the refridgerator or next to your telephone.

When the time comes to finally pack your clothing try to make a mental list of the events and activities you have planned for your vacation. Are you hiking? Don't forget your boots, socks, and cool clothes. Are you meeting anyone along the road for a nice dinner? Don't get caught without any nice outfits to wear! As far as the essentials are concerned, buying an extra set of socks, t-shirts, or pajamas to always keep in your RV may be the best way to go! And since it never hurts to save a few extra dollars these days, keep in mind that the lighter your RV is, the better gas mileage you're going to get on those long, open roads!

Safety items are also incredibly important. You should always have a first aid kit, maps, radios, flashlights, and of course an extra set of batteries with you! These are definitely items you won't want to get caught without.

Whether you're planning to head out for a few weeks or a few months, having a detailed list and getting a head start on packing is always a great idea. With meals planned, clothes packed, and fresh batteries in your flashlight, you'll have nothing to worry about as you embark on another adventure in your second home!
