Earth Day is   April 22, 2010!

The first Earth Day celebration was held 40 years ago, during the Spring of  1970, and was observed only in the United States. This holiday is now celebrated across the globe, falling in Spring for the Northern Hemisphere, and fall for the Southern Hemisphere. Earth Day calls for a celebration of the environment, and a raised awareness of how to preserve our natural world. A few members of our San Diego office celebrated by attending the Earth Fair in Balboa Park last weekend. How will you be spending Earth Day this year? Tell us your story, or suggest a green tip of your own, and we will feature you in the May, 2010 newsletter! You will also receive a free gift from WholesaleWarranties.net!

Going Green in your RV!

With the concept of an eco-friendly lifestyle becoming increasingly pervasive in every aspect of American life, the RV industry has seen a major shift towards contributing to a greener planet. This is not completely foreign territory, however, as RV living at it's most basic has always been an eco-friendly habit. The average RV-er actually has a smaller carbon footprint than a single-family home, creates much less waste because they only purchase what they can and will use in their limited space, and consumes significantly less water than their non-mobile peers. But the industry hasn't stopped there--in fact, nearly every major RV manufacturer is in the process of producing their version of a "green RV", which will be complete with a hybrid engine and solar powered interior. This will create less harmful exhaust for the atmosphere, while saving it's driver an impressive amount of money on fuel! These RV's are even going to take on a unfamiliar but more effectively aerodynamic shape, increasing fuel efficiency while making better use of the raw materials that go into its production.

You don't have to wait until these fully hybridized models are on the market to start reducing your impact on mother nature. Turning your road trip into an eco-cation is as simple as recycling cans and bottles, swapping traditional light bulbs for energy efficient makes, and using paper dishes in place of their harmful plastic and styrofoam counterparts. If you're looking for more permanent changes, the installation of solar panels is a very effective and eco-friendly choice. Your rig will catch sun all day, which will naturally power your generator all night--saving money, and the planet!

Whether you're taking baby steps, or waiting on the edge of your seat for the newest green solution, our RV-ing world has a responsibility to preserve the nature we so enjoy travelling through!

A Note from your WholesaleWarranties.net Manager!

As Earth Day approaches, I am reminded of how far we have come with regards to recycling, and how important it is to each play a role in keeping our planet clean.  As you can see in the picture, I have made a conscious effort to utilize a separate bin for recyclables in both our WholesaleWarranties.net office, and my own home.  Each month, my family and I turn in our cans and bottles, and use the money for a pizza party or movie: something fun to reward ourselves for our small role in taking care of the planet.  My two young daughters are very conscientious about littering as well.  They see signs all over the freeway that point out the $1000 fine for littering.  They think this applies to them as well, so by the end of the day I end up with a purse full of trash and wrappers, and thus far my daughters are without fines!
